Serious Crimes Down in JamaicaAs 2018 fastly approaches, Jamaica continues to see a decline in serious crimes.

Murders particularly continue on a downward trend.

The latest crime statistics released by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) indicate that 1,216 murders were recorded between January 1 and December 8.

That’s 338 fewer murders than the similar period last year.

The Area Four Police which includes Kingston, St. Andrew Central and St. Andrew South accounted for the largest number of murders, recording 365 deaths in the period.

The updated statistics also indicate that 1,101 shootings happened in the same period.

That’s 289 fewer incidents than the same period in 2017.

Robberies and break-ins have also declined as at December 8.

Robberies are down almost 15% over last year, while break-ins have declined by 5% over the period under review
