Jamaica Fire Brigade to Receive New Equipment

The Jamaican government has announced that it will be spending US$1.2M to provide protective clothing and gear for the fire brigade.

This, as the Jamaica Fire Brigade is experiencing critical shortages of protective clothing and bunker gear.

Cabinet has approved the award of contracts totalling US$1, 270,000 to Bell Supply Limited.

Bell Supply will provide 350 firefighters’ protective clothing at a cost of US$833,000 , in addition to 99 self-contained breathing apparatus valued at US $437, 000.

Cabinet says the fire department’s need for protective gear is amplified as the brigade will be ramping up its recruitment drive for the 2018/19 financial year.
