Minister Dr Horace Chang Reviewing Legislation To Enhance Crime Fighting Measures
National Security Ministry reviewing legislation to enhance crime fighting measures
Several pieces of legislation including the Anti-Gang Legislation are being reviewed by the Ministry of National Security in a bid to strengthen their capability in bringing down criminal organisations.
Portfolio Minister Dr Horace Chang made the disclosure in parliament this afternoon (May 9) while giving an update on the crime situation in Westmoreland.
He noted that there is a need to diminish the heroic image of the gang leaders and as such to apprehend, investigate, convict, and incarcerate them, is the best mechanism.
He says he will not apologies for comments he made about criminals while visiting the Grange Hill community last week.
The minister says the laws will be amended to allow investigators to seize assets of alleged criminals including assets hidden under the names of their relatives.
