Khiry Managan Biography
Khiry Managan is a Reggae/Hip-Hop artist based out of Indianapolis Indiana, United States. Born October 3, 1990 and raised in the US being ‘African-American’, He and his brother Khaleel Aka General Spazz (Forgotten Tribe Producer) combine a Reggae roots and ancient Hip-Hop sound that fits the old with the new age vibrations of making uplifting music in these times. Reggae was introduced to Khiry while he was in high school playing futbol. His first time hearing Reggae music was while heading to soccer practice and he heard the legendary sounds of Bob Marley and the Wailers. Hip-Hop on the other hand was Khiry Managan and General Spazz’s first love along with R&B and soul music from back in the day.
The Influences on the Hip-Hop side of things comes from artist like Kendrick Lamar, Joey Badass, Jay Dilla, Flying Lotus DJ Kool Herc, Kanye West, InI Kamozi in his Hip-Hop crossover era, and many others in the old school realm. The Reggae influences come from artist like Peter Tosh, the Marley family, InI Kamozi, Sly and Robbie, Buju Banton, Protoje, Chronixx and the whole Reggae Revival movement. DanceHall is also a respected art of music by Khiry Managan. He really loves Supa Cat, Yellow Man, and Buju Banton.
Khiry Managan is the co-founder of Forgotten Tribe alongside his brother Khaleel aka General Spazz. Together they want their music to be heard globally and respected within the Rasta community and Islands near and far. This is not to make the two, “Culture Vultures” due to the fact that these genres of music are both of African influence with the Creator guiding the way for these genres of music to be respected and used positively. That’s Khiry Managan’s mission and duty as an artist. To give the Ancient sounds back to the people within these two Art forms of music.
Khiry Managan is also an instrumentalist playing the Trumpet, and some Piano. General Spazz is a string musician and also the producer for Forgotten Tribes sound.
