The recent controversies surrounding incarcerated dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel propel a spike in his book sales?

Kartel’s book “Voice of the Jamaican Ghetto” has been doing consistently well, there has been a recent increase in book sales, in addition to a keen interest from academic professionals.

Michael Dawson, Vybz Kartel’s business partner and co-author of “Voice of the Jamaica Ghetto” give an update during an exclusive interview.

Vybz Kartel’s Voice of the Jamaican Ghetto released in 2012, is currently a best seller on Amazon and has been rated 4.7 stars by its users.

Meanwhile, a controversial question rose by Opposition spokesperson on youth and culture, Lisa Hanna, has triggered a response from the Ministry of National Security.

New details are that the Ministry of National Security has outlined measures to strengthen security in the correctional institutions, which will include stamping out the smuggling of cell phones and other contraband. It also states that it will clarify the conditions under which music is recorded by inmates in maximum security facilities.

Recently, four officers of the Department of Correctional Services were arrested and are now before the court on charges pertaining to corruptive dealings with inmates, while other officers have been removed for alleged unprofessional conduct.

Vybz Kartel is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, while waiting for his appeal.
