Nominations for the post of president of the party closed at noon today.

General Secretary for the PNP Julian Robinson says there will be a special delegates conference on March 26, at which time Dr. Phillips will be elected by acclamation, as the next President of the party.

He adds that the general consensus among party members is that Dr. Phillips is the best person to lead at this time.

In the meantime, Dr. Phillips says he will be providing the kind of leadership that will create a new dynamic, and a sense of national purpose in the PNP.

He says the conduct of party members throughout the nomination process has given the clearest indication of the priority that they place in the unity of the party as it embarks on the renewal process.

He says this unity is absolutely critical not only during the period of renewal but when the PNP forms the government.
