How many times have you felt that life is not worth it?
How many times have you felt  that you do not deserve the chastisement of life?

How many times have you failed the exam you studied so hard for?

How many times have you lost that job you thought was going to make you a better person?

How many times have you lost that one friend to the hands of death without a goodbye?

Life itself can be a challenge for many who live expecting greater from the external world than the greatness that one possess. Sometime we allow the things of the world to blind us from the reality of our own capacity, the blindness breeds corruption and greed, envy and destruction to humanity.

Today, I took a long walk to the local barbershop and groomed my hair, just as I completed the grooming of my hair,  the rain began the fall. I stood inside the barbershop and I looked at the flooded roads and the heavy drops and then I hid myself from nature.

When nature seems relentless in its quest, I stepped out and journeyed in the drops to my home, for a while I felt cured and relieved.

The middle of the journey I started to reflect on my own life and how fortunate I have been  to be alive, to be able to feel wet, smell the freshness of the drops and see the beauty of nature; that reflection came at a time when I remembered that during this life many planned the future and prepared for it, even better than I could and I have done,  but today, they are not here to celebrate and appreciate the life they hoped to have had but I am and you are. At the end of my journey as I arrived home, i thought of how power a message it would be to share my thought about life, so I took a picture standing in the rain and while camera flash, so was my faith in the rest of my journey of life.

Upon arriving home I began to share my appreciation for life to a friend on Whatapps Chat, encouraging that sometimes you are to shout “YES“…just shout “YES‘.  Yes I have made it this far, yes this is me and encouraged to give yourself a hug, a kiss, a high five and look in the mirror and speak words affirming your place and position in this world,  confirming that “GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD“-1 John 4:4. During the lengthy conversation, I began to reflect that a friend was recently incarcerated for illegal possession of firearm which he had five years ago.

Approximately a year ago, I met a young man who came to me during a security training, he was partly trained by me and was assigned to work as a part of my team. After three months, he was evaluated and promoted to Junior Supervisor which he served for approximately nine months. During our interactions, he would encourage me to return to church where I first met Jesus, we would have several religious debates for which I always have better arguments, however, at the latter end of the nine months, he revealed to me that he was in trouble and that his life fives years ago had come to haunt him. He stated that he was caught with illegal possession of firearm and that he is to appear before the Gun Court for charges. I was livid, I was disappointed, I was afraid of losing a young man that I saw such a bright future for. The date to appear for Gun Court was mentioned and I appeared to give as much support as I could, however, the judge founded him guilty and he was sentence for two year behind bars. The essence of this story isn’t to expose this case but to remind you that life sometime comes with some curve balls and unexpected swift ones that can wreck you or build you. Since his incarceration I have had the privilege to speak to him and he assures me that he is okay and his experience in the rehabilitation facility will make him stronger than who  I met.

Jah Cure -“Prison Walls” says “Prison a nuh bed a roses, the livity it makes me bawl, I wish that Jah could come and take me back in time“. It affirms that life may not be a bed of roses but as my friend behind those walls said to me ” I will be stronger than how you met me“, encourages me to never let my weakest moments in life pull me beneath it. I must at all time rise above the situation and see the good in every bad experience, I must affirm to myself that ” I cannot have a positive life and a negative mind “-Joyce Myers. I must be relentless like the rain was relentless to wash me and purify my journey…”I must never give up until life has given up on me” Krisho Holmes.
