Over 60 Jamaicans To Attend Reggae Festival In Ivory Coast, West Africa

Abi-Reggae International Music Festival and Conference will see the likes of Mutabaruka, Third World, Morgan Heritage, Kymani Marley, Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt are some of the reggae entertainers among the 60 persons from Jamaica in attendance who are on the four-day Festival.

The festival will begin Thursday and goes until April 12 in Abidjan, the economic capital of the Republic of the Ivory Coast, West Africa.

The festival will also host a conference that will see and hear discussions on reggae music and the launch of a reggae radio station in Abidjan, called Zion FM. The new radio station will partner with Jamaica’s number one radio station Irie FM.

Two broadcasts from the African continent by our own Mutabaruka will be done during the Cutting Edge Wednesday between 10 PM and 2 AM. Muta will also broadcast Steppin’ Razor on Thursday from 2 pm until 5:45 PM.

During the period of the festival, a conference will be held to discuss topics such as reggae music, its origin and the impact it has had on the African continent and the world, as well as Jamaican Caribbean African connection.
