Junior Minister in the Ministry of Entertainment and Tourism, Damion Crawford, says he has no problem with Vybz Kartel being nominated or even if he wins a category in this year’s staging of the STAR Awards.
Crawford said, ” The awards show is not for outstanding citizenship, it is for songs. Therefore, if it’s based on songs that are currently popular, and he has songs that are currently popular, then he should be nominated.”
The minister also told source that in his opinion, he does not believe that art influences people to be negative in their actions.
“If it is that all Kartel songs from then, until now, promotes criminals, then all his fans would be criminals,” Crawford said.Crawford said,
if there were an award for outstanding citizen, he doubts Vybz Kartel would be nominated. however, in this case, it is for songs that are popular.
