The matter is now expected to resume at two o’clock this afternoon.

An early adjournment was granted yesterday to allow defense lawyers to interview the telecommunications experts.

This morning defence lawyer, Tom Tavares-Finson told the court that
when they went to the company’s headquarters in downtown Kingston
yesterday, they were told that the systems were down.

He said the defense team stayed for about one hour but there was no change.

Tavares-Finson said he notified the Director of Public Prosecutions that the interview did not go ahead.

Justice Lennox Campbell enquired if the situation at Digicel had
change and the lawyer said another attempt will be made to interview the
Digicel experts today.

Meanwhile, Tavares-Finson said the defense could pursue with non-technical witnesses.

However, lead prosecutor Jeremy Taylor said the Crown had planned its case to have certain witness testify this week.

He said the Crown will attempt to have other witnesses available for the two o’clock start.

Meanwhile, there was no update on a handwriting examination of a letter purportedly written by the key prosecution witness.

An adjournment in the case yesterday was to facilitate the defense request to examine the letter.

Kartel is jointly charged with fellow entertainer Shawn Campbell
also known as Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones, Shane Williams and Andre St
John for the August 16, 2011 murder of ‘Lizard’ Williams.

Williams was allegedly killed over two missing guns.
