make a critical ruling regarding witness statements in the murder trial
of dancehall artiste ‘Vybz Kartel’.
“Kartel’ and his co-accused will know if statements from the
prosecution’s main witnesses, who have not come forward, will be allowed
into the trial before the Home Circuit Court.
The ruling in the trial for the murder Portmore resident Barrington
‘Bossie’ Bryan was scheduled for Tuesday morning however the judge
received the transcript late.
Justice Bryan Sykes on Monday reserved judgement on the application by
the prosecution to have the statements read into evidence following
submissions from lawyers for both the Crown and the defence.
‘Kartel’, whose real name is Adijah Palmer is being tried along with
Nigel Thompson and Lenburgh McDonald for the July 12, 2011 shooting
death of Bryan.
Bryan was reportedly shot and killed while standing among a group of people in Gregory Park, St Catherine.
